beach day at blind beach

Adam, River, Poodles and I enjoyed a fun day at Blind Beach. We took a picnic lunch and hiked down to the beach where we spent 3 hours bathing in the sun, running from waves, soaking our feet in ice cold water and taking walks on the beach...oh and you can't forget the poodle surfing! River had a great time running after the waves and expecting mommy to pick him up when the waves came crashing at his feet. River chowed down on macaroni salad and melon. He doesn't eat much...so mom is always happy when he eats well. The poodles loved chasing the ball around and Maisy especially loved poodle surfing, thank goodness for the life vest! The hike back up to the car was steeper than I remember...I had to take a few breaks :) We did hear someone screaming from the ocean, my heart sunk and thought it was a shark attack. We quickly learned that the guy was caught in a current and had trouble getting back to the beach. Someone called 911, but within a few minutes a surfer was able to help him back to the beach. As we hiked out of the beach....we noticed a "danger" sign explaining the dangerous currents on the beach. Glad the water was too cold for us to go swimming! Next time we will plan to eat lunch and dinner on the beach so we can stay out until sunset. River was poopered after our fun trip to the beach, he slept all the way home! The poodles enjoyed the attention today :) The beach weather was MUCH cooler (80s) than the weather in St Helena (103). We will definitely return to the beach, this time with more food so we can spend ALL DAY!!!

Happy Beach Day for All!
